Treasured Moments
Members of the community who have reached their “golden years” often feel they have lost their purpose in life because they are no longer able to participate in activities outside their own home or the Nursing Home where they now live.
Some do not have any remaining family members to visit them, some have family who cannot or choose not to visit them. So, for many, the days are long and lonely. Being separated from the community life they knew and from regular attendance at church services adds to their sense of isolation and produces a deep longing to be loved and affirmed.
The ministry to elderly people is aimed at bringing the love of God and His uplifting to each one, whether corporately or individually. Regular visits from our ministry teams give opportunity to build relationships and to bring spiritual encouragement through short Bible-based messages and by singing the well-known hymns that they love.
The value of this ministry can clearly be seen in their joyful participation and through the gratitude expressed by both those who attend services and by individuals who are confined to their rooms.
