Together with the City Mission we can make a difference

Christmas Cheer

For a number of years, we have been able to bless many lonely, poor and needy families, children and individuals over the Christmas period, particularly in Whitehawk and Moulsecoomb. One visit left an indelible memory - an uncarpeted room with peeling wallpaper and no furniture other than a mattress with dirty bed linen, lit by a single light bulb — a child’s bedroom. We were able to bring a little bit of joy into that child’s life.

A number of churches organise Toy Services to support this work. We also ask for gifts that would be suitable for some of our Basics Bank clients and for the elderly we visit in the Rest Homes. Gifts have also been used for families of unemployed folk as well as foryoung people in temporary accommodation.

Children’s Toys and Gifts are required for all ages from 1 – 14 years. Our policy is to give only new toys to our clients, as we believe in respecting their dignity. All items are appreciated including—educational toys, games, cuddly toys, painting and drawing sets, felt tips etc.
